Wild camping or organized campsite? The nature showdown!

Camping sauvage ou camping aménagé ? Le match nature !

You dream of sleeping under the stars, lulled by the song of crickets... but a question is nagging at you:
should you go wild camping or opt for an equipped campsite?

At Baroudeur Camp, we love both! So we're here to help you choose according to your desire for adventure (and your need for comfort!).

Wild camping: total freedom

Imagine yourself alone by a lake, with just your tent, a campfire, and silence. No neighbors, no barriers, just nature and you.
It's the ultimate escape dream, but it requires a bit of preparation... and respect.

Advantages:

  • Total immersion in nature

  • No pitch fees

  • Freedom of movement: you pitch your tent where you want (almost)

Good to know:

  • It is regulated in France: forbidden in national parks, certain beaches or private properties

  • No access to water or toilets: you must be self-sufficient (and leave no trace!)

  • Safety: isolation, weather, animals... it's better to be well prepared

Equipped campsite: comfort and security

Want a little more peace of mind? Equipped campsites (classic or "nature") offer a nice compromise:
you sleep outdoors, but with a hot shower and power outlet within reach!

Advantages:

  • Basic comfort: sanitary facilities, water, sometimes a restaurant or grocery store

  • Supervised: ideal for families or beginners

  • Easy encounters: perfect for socializing or asking for advice

Less wild:

  • Less freedom in choosing your pitch

  • Presence of other campers (sometimes noisy)

  • A cost to consider (variable depending on the season)

So, which one to choose?

It all depends on your style:

You want…

Opt for…

The thrill, solitude, pure adventure

Wild camping

Comfort, security, and a dose of sociability

Equipped campsite

To try both?

Mix according to your itinerary and your mood of the day!

In both cases: be prepared!

Whether you're team wild or team comfort, good equipment remains essential:

  • Light and sturdy tent

  • Water filtration system

  • Compact stove

  • First aid kit

  • Headlamp

  • And most importantly... respect for nature
